Biography Alina Giger
Alina Giger received her bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc ETH ME) from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich in 2013, where she subsequently continued with her master degree's studies focusing on robotics and control systems.
Her interest in robotic applications in the field of medicine directed her attention to the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Basel where she was offered the opportunity to develop control algorithms for the robot-guided laser osteotome (CARLO) within the scope of her master's project.
After her graduation in Robotics, Systems and Control (MSc ETH RSC) from ETH Zurich in 2016, she has joined the Center for medical Image Analysis & Navigation (CIAN) as a PhD candidate. Her current work is devoted to respiratory motion mitigation for lung and liver tumours in proton therapy.
