Research Bio-Inspired Robots for Medicine-Lab

The Bio-Inspired RObots for MEDicine-Lab (BIROMED-Lab) was founded in May 2016 by Prof. Georg Rauter. This was only possible due to the generous funding of the Minimally Invasive Robot Assisted Computerguided LaserosteotomE (MIRACLE) project through the Werner von Siemens Foundation (Zug, Switzerland).

Research in the BIROMED-Lab focuses on bio-inspired robotic and mechatronic systems for medical applications. In particular, we develop robotic endoscopes for laser ablation of hard tissue, bio-inspired sensor technologies, tele manipulators, and haptic control strategies for endoscope manipulation. We further apply and teach novel automation strategies to shorten development times for complete robotic and mechatronic systems in general.
