SUMMARY:Bioinspired Robots: Building Embodied Intelligence
DESCRIPTION:AbstractThis talk will explore a number of approaches to design
ing and fabricating robots that can robustly interact with the environment
through embodied intelligence. The applications and new capabilities enab
led by these robots will be discussed\, with a focus on sustainability and
agricultural applications.BiosketchJosie Hughes is an Assistant Professor
at EPFL where she established the CREATE Lab in 2021. Her lab focuses on
developing robots that can exploit Embodied Intelligence to robust interac
t with real world scenario. This includes dexterous manipulators\, morphin
g locomoting robots\, soft arms\, and more unusual form factors including
growing\, splitting or other physically evolving robotic systems.
