Braissant in ‹Frontiers in Microbiology›
Olivier Braissant, head of the Biological Calorimetry Lab, has published a paper in ‹Frontiers in Microbiology›, the world’s most-cited Microbiology journal. The paper is an exhaustive review of methods to measure metabolism and certainly contains microcalorimetry as developed at the Biological Calorimetry Lab where metabolic studies are a central focus.
Since all reviewed techniques have the same goal of measuring metabolism, many of them provide data that can be correlated or combined. The authors conclude that this allows for rapid validation of the use of a technique or deciphering between different types of metabolism: «In this context, a lack of correlation might sometimes be more informative than correlation itself.»
