Ten Years of Electrifying Knowledge Transfer on DBE Research Days

Bring clinical and engineering experts together and things get genuinely exciting. Novel ideas are being born at a spectacular rate, addressing unheard ways to solve a complex range of problems. For 10 years now, DBE Research Days guarantee for exactly this.

This year, 210 participants experienced 24 presentations on topics ranging from rehabilitation robots and pharmacogenetics in forensic science to the integration of tissue engineering and 3D printing. Any participant at the Biozentrum, in a way, appeared as an ambassador of their respective field and expertise, ready to make new friends abroad and to dive into new endeavors.

The 10th birthday of this event also provided the opportunity to look back and forward in time. Head of DBE Philippe Cattin remembered the very first and very humble beginnings of this event. DBE co-founder Hans-Florian Zeilhofer recaptured the rocket-like rise of biomedical engineering research in Basel, laser physicist Ferda Canbaz dared to look into the future by speculating about the next exciting ten years of bringing clinical and engineering research experts together on the DBE research day. The event was celebrated with an apèroch riche provided by Restaurant du Coeur in Basel.
