The Neuronal Biomarkers Lab develops next-generation biomarkers of brain function for psychiatry and neurology based on the principles of predictive processing. The lab investigates how the brain generates and updates predictions about the world, and how disruptions of these mechanisms contribute to psychiatric and neurological disorders. By combining immersive virtual reality, mobile EEG, pupillometry, full-body motion tracking, and computational modelling, the group measures neural, physiological, and behavioural responses to sensorimotor prediction errors during naturalistic behaviour. Through this multimodal approach, the lab aims to establish objective, mechanism-based biomarkers that improve precision diagnostics, enable treatment monitoring, and support the development of more personalized interventions in psychiatry and neurology.
