
Prof. Christof Stieger, is appointed Adjunct Professor in Experimental Medicine with a focus on audiology and neuro-otology.
Prof. Christof Stieger, heads the Audiology, Neuro-Otology and Cochlear Implant Center at the University Hospital Basel. At the DBE he leads the Acoustic and Vestibular Research Group. His clinical work covers the full spectrum of ear‑implant and cochlear‑implant care for patients from newborns to the elderly. He also leads Cochlear Implant Group for Switzerland and performs analysis with the uniquely Swiss Cochlear Implant Database—a resource renowned worldwide. Recently he was elected to the Board of the European Federation of Audiology Societies.
Christof Stieger began his academic career studying Electrical Engineering and Medical Physics at ETH Zürich, EPFL Lausanne, and the Université catholique de Louvain‑la‑Neuve. After earning a PhD in implantable hearing aids, he became an Assistant Professor at the University of Bern (Inselspital). A subsequent fellowship at Harvard Medical School deepened his research expertise before he joined the University Hospital Basel. In 2015 he received his Venia docendi from the University of Basel.
