The Facial and Cranial Anomalies (FCA) research group at the DBE and the Clinic for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the University Hospital of Basel received the “AI in Dentistry: Faculty and Clinician Impact Award” from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine at the 2nd Global Symposium on AI in Dentistry. The award, which was announced in November 2025, was presented to the winner in February 2026.
Recognized for their work on the use of artificial intelligence in the care of children with cleft lip, palate, and maxillofacial anomalies, Dr. Prasad Nalabothu, Prof. Andreas Albert Müller, and their team are developing solutions aimed at making treatments more accessible and reducing the burden on affected families.
Funded by the Botnar Research Centre for Child Health and conducted in collaboration with ETH Zurich and the GSR Institute of Craniofacial Surgery (India), this research confirms Basel’s leading role in innovative, patient-centered medicine.
