We held our 11th Research Day on 5 September 2025, welcoming an impressive 250 participants. This record attendance reflected the strong engagement of DBE members, collaborators, alumni, and visitors, and underscored the growing importance of this annual event.
Throughout the day, 55 posters were presented by doctoral students, 23 invited speakers — including PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, group leaders, and alumni — enriched the program with inspiring talks that encouraged exchange and collaboration across disciplines.
The event also provided an opportunity to recognize outstanding achievements. The DBE Best PhD Paper Award was presented to Dr. Philippe François Valmaggia for his work on heart-retina time analysis using electrocardiogram-coupled time-resolved dynamic optical coherence tomography. Poster prizes were awarded to Andrea Leuthard (gold), Alicia Durrer (silver), and Ruben Martin-Rodriguez (bronze).
By bringing together researchers at all career stages, the DBE Research Day continues to foster innovation and translation. We are already looking forward to continuing this tradition and warmly invite you to save the date for the 12th DBE Research Day, which will take place on 26 August 2026.
