The research group, Biomechanics and Implant Design, brings together a team of dedicated orthopaedic surgeons led by Prof. Nowakowski, Chief Physician and Orthopaedic Surgeon of Kantonsspital Baselland. Our work focuses on translating biomechanical insights into clinical applications, with a particular emphasis on implant development for the lower extremity, as well as instrument optimization and further development.
We maintain strong collaborations with basic science partners and industry, creating a vital bridge between research innovation and clinical needs from the end-user’s perspective. Our activities also include tribological studies and the integration of the latest technological advances — all with one central goal: improving outcomes for patients.
As a newly established team, we are actively seeking local and international collaborations to further strengthen our mission of bringing biomechanical research to the bedside.
