The research group Biomechanics and Implant Design brings together a team of dedicated orthopaedic surgeons, fundamental researchers and industry partners.
Led by Prof. Andrej Nowakowski, orthopaedic surgeon and co-chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Cantonal Hospital Baselland at Bruderholz, our work focuses on translating biomechanical insights into clinical applications, respectively clinical insights into biomedical engineering, with a particular emphasis on implant development for the lower extremity, as well as optimization and further development of instruments.
The main goal is to improve patient outcomes, creating essential links between all the medical, scientific, and industry partners involved in orthopaedic implant design
