Research Topic: Design and analysis of cutting patterns for corrective osteotomies of the distal forearm using a cold ablation laser osteotome

Background and Research Interest

Maximilian Hofer is a medical student at the University of Basel. He is especially interested in hand surgery since the small anatomical structures and the different tissues offer a great challenge to the surgeon. Together with AOT he is working on developing new cutting patterns for corrective osteotomies of the distal forearm using a cold ablation laser osteotome. A laser osteotome offers nearly unlimited possibilities to cut bones! His goal is to analyse the different cutting patterns on their feasibility so that we are able to offer the best individual solution to our patients in the future.
