Grant for Novel Application of Breath Analysis

Dr. med Ursula Tanvier and Dr. med. Alexandra Schifferli, both collaborators at Pablo Sinues’ Translational Medicine Breath Research group, have raised 65’000 SFR from the Stiftung für krebskranke Kinder Regio Basliniensis.
By harnessing the diagnostic potential of SESI-HRMS to detect the unique metabolic fingerprint of Aspergillus spp. in exhaled breath of children, the project addresses an unmet clinical need to identify the most abundant metabolites in the breath of patients with Aspergillus lung disease and to define an Aspergillus-specific volatilome in the breath of patients with aspergillus lung disease.
