PhD Program in Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical Engineering is the application of natural science principles and techniques to the medical field. It seeks to close the gap between basic science and clinical applications leading to fascinating interdisciplinary research.

The Medical Faculty of the University of Basel offers a Doctoral Degree in Biomedical Engineering (PhD, Dr. sc. med.). Doctoral students in Biomedical Engineering usually also enter the PhD program in Biomedical Engineering. This program provides advanced educational tools to complement the existing doctoral supervision.

Requirements:

Approved PhD students of the Faculty of Medicine and Science Faculty with a dissertation topic in Biomedical Engineering may enter this doctoral program. Applications should be submitted to phd-dbe@clutterunibas.ch. PhD students not enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine can participate at the organized events but they cannot receive the PhD program certificate.

Program Offering:

Students enrolled in the PhD program have access to an annual summer school, networking events as well as courses lectures and seminars.
After graduation, students can also obtain a final certificate upon request.
