Swiss Robotics Day 2024 Bigger than Ever
After 1000 registrations, the organizers of the Swiss Robotics Day 2024 in Basel had to stop the registration process. Prof. Dr. Georg Rauter from the DBE and Prof. Dr. Aude Billard (EPFL) co-organized the 15th edition of the Swiss Robotics Day with a focus on medical Robotics and welcomed more than 70 exhibitors.
In their welcome addresses, Dr. jur. Lukas Engelberger, Head of the Department of Health at Canton of Basel and Director of Swiss Conference of the Cantonal Ministers of Public Health, and Prof. Dr. Schenker-Wiki, Rector of the Universityb of Basel, underlined the importance of innovation in Switzerland in general and in the field of robotics in particular. An impressive line-up of speakers then introduced the audience into the state of the art and the future of robotics in Switzerland and beyond. More than 70 exhibitors presented their devices and tools, ideas and concepts, suggestions and opportunities at Messe Basel. In addition, the Swiss Robotics Association was established as a successor of the Innovation Booster Robotics, which approaches the end of its funding next year.
The event represents a number of major academic players in Switzerland: the National Center of Competence in Research Robotics, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), ETH Zurich, University of Zurich, Università della Svizzera Italiana, University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), University of Bern, and the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research (EMPA).
