The Roboticists are Coming!

On November 1, top robotics researchers from across Switzerland will gather in Basel for the first time since 15 years of Swiss Robotics Days. This year’s event, co-led by Prof. Georg Rauter (BIROMED-Lab) and Prof. Aude Billard (EPFL), will emphasize collaboration between universities and industries, both large and small, across Switzerland. The focus will be on cutting-edge developments in medical robotics and future trends, showcasing how these partnerships are shaping the next generation of robotic technologies.

Switzerland is the serial world champion of innovation - as can clearly be seen in the Swiss development of robots for a wide range of different applications. Many of these robots are already in use, some of them in medicine, for example in complicated operations in which robots guarantee extreme precision and reliability. In rehabilitation, systems are used to help people learn to walk again after serious injuries. Robots are also playing an increasingly important role in care and it is hard to imagine hospitals without them.

If you want to know where the journey is heading, come to Messe Basel on November 1 and visit the Swiss Robotics Day. There, the Swiss luminaries in the field will talk about the future of artificial intelligence, assistive systems, automatization, autonomous driving, computation, force feedback, drones, electric vehicles batteries, energy efficiency, environmental protection, exoskeletons, greenhouse cultivation, household appliances, human-robot collaboration, industrial engineering, instinctive learning, mechatronics, medicine, micromanipulation tools, modularization, neural accelerators, precise positioning, rehabilitation, rovers, rescue assistance, sensor technology, smart robotics, sustainability, tactile sensors, and warehousing.

The Swiss Robotics Day is organized by the Innovation Booster Robotics at EPFL, this year in collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at University of Basel. The event represents a number of major academic players in Switzerland: the National Center of Competence in Research Robotics, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), ETH Zurich, University of Zurich, Università della Svizzera Italiana, University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), University of Bern, and the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research (EMPA).

The list of speakers is correspondingly high caliber, as can be seen from this agenda. In addition, around 50 exhibitors will be presenting their latest developments, giving a visible and tangible impression of the vibrancy of this field of research. The Swiss Robotics Day 2023 documentation gives a rough idea of what the event will look like.
