This video shows a spherical star from the collection of the Museum der Kulturen Basel that was scanned at our Core Facility MiNa in the Zeiss xradia 610 Versa scanner. The archival description of the object reads as follows: "Weihnachtsschmuck «Komet» aus der Sammlung des Museums der Kulturen Basel (VI 68985.01-12). Hergestellt in Lauscha (Thüringen, Deutschland), 1997 als Geschenk erhalten von S. & W. Roth Kunstgewerbe, Bonfol JU. Der Lauschaer Christbaumschmuck aus Glas ist weltweit bekannt und gehört seit 2021 zum UNESCO Immateriellen Weltkulturerbe." That means that this is a Christmas decoration named “Comet”, that was made in Lauscha (Thuringia, Germany) as part of globally known art of local glass Christmas tree decorations that is part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2021.
