It’s Official: Professor Florian Thieringer!

The University Council has elected Prof. Dr. Dr. Florian M. Thieringer as Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (MKG Surgery) at the Faculty of Medicine. He will take up his position on October 1, 2022.

Florian received his doctorate in human medicine from the University of Basel in 2012 and in dentistry in 2018. He has worked in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University Hospital Basel since 2004, and as a cadre physician since 2017. With his election as professor, Florian will also become the new chief physician for oral and maxillofacial surgery at University Hospital Basel.

Florian's clinical focus is on computer-assisted tumor, reconstructive and dysgnathic surgery. In research, he focuses on high-tech digital procedures in maxillofacial surgery.

Florian is founder and co-director of the 3D Print Lab since 2016 and co-principal investigator of the Flagship Project MIRACLEII at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Basel.
