Within the framework of University of Basel Core Facilities, the DBE offers advanced services that are available to researchers and external users: Micro- and Nanotomography, Microcalorimetry, 3D-Print Lab, and Gait and Motion Analysis. In addition, the DBE runs a Material Testing Service Unit.

Besides offering services, these Core Facilities perform research and develop new processes. They also provide quality testing for medical tools and applications. DBE Core Facilities collaborate with all departments within the medical faculty and with external partners like the Universities of Geneva, Lausanne, Zurich, Strasbourg, Bordeaux, York, Tübingen, Amsterdam, Uppsala, ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology EMPA, Swiss TPH, Agroscope, University Hospital Basel, University Children’s Hospital Basel, FHNW, AO Foundation, Medartis AG, Straumann, Johnson & Johnson and many others.
